Child Policy
1. Purpose
This Child Protection Policy sets out how The Study Shack responds to concerns that a child or young person may be at risk of harm. It works alongside our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

3. Types of Abuse
We recognise that abuse can take many forms, including:

Physical abuse

Emotional abuse

Sexual abuse
-
Neglect
-
Online abuse
4. Responding to a Disclosure
If a child discloses abuse or harm:

Listen calmly and take them seriously
-
Do not promise confidentiality
-
Do not ask leading questions
-
Reassure them they have done the right thing
-
Report the disclosure immediately to the DSL
5. Reporting Procedures
All concerns must be reported to the DSL as soon as possible.
If a child is in immediate danger:

Contact emergency services immediately

Then inform the DSL
The DSL will decide next steps, which may include contacting:

Children’s Social Care
-
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
-
Police
6. Allegations Against Staff or Volunteers
Any allegation against a member of staff or volunteer must be reported immediately to the DSL.
The individual concerned may be suspended from duties while investigations take place. Confidentiality will be maintained as far as possible.

9. Review
This policy is reviewed annually and updated in line with safeguarding guidance.
