The Study Shack is for GCSE students who want extra support with Maths and the Sciences. Our sessions are suitable for students of all abilities — whether they need help filling knowledge gaps, improving exam technique, or building confidence ahead of exams.
We currently offer group mentoring for GCSE Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Sessions are aligned with UK exam boards and focus on the topics students are covering at school.
Our tutors are exceptional A-Level students who have achieved Grade 8 or 9 in the GCSE subjects they support. They have recently completed their GCSEs themselves and are well placed to explain concepts clearly, share effective revision strategies, and relate to younger students.
Sessions take place in person in small groups at Dower House, Berkhamsted on Tuesdays (from 4.30pm-5.30pm or 5.30pm-6.30pm) or online to accommodate student's individual timetables and learning needs. Each session includes addressing any knowledge gaps, guided revision, exam paper practice, and targeted support to address areas where students need extra help.
